Waterfalls aplenty

Saturday morning we slept in, way in. Then we got dressed and ready to go and we drove into Yellowstone. We had decided against horse back riding and went to explore the park instead. Our first stop was (another; the millionth) waterfall. We only stayed for a few minutes, though. After leaving the falls, we hiked a short trail around a group of geysers and mud pots. Some of the geysers looked so gross and others made you want to jump right in. The mud pots, as always, were amazing. I mean, come on, boiling mud! Who wouldn't think that's amazing? We stopped at a few smaller geysers then had a picnic lunch. After lunch we stopped at a visitors center/ lodge/restaurant/ general store for ice cream. I got moose tracks and stuck in a rut (vanilla and caramel swirl with caramel cups on top). We got directions to a "hot springs" at the visitors center. We drove a few miles then hiked a small trail back to the "springs." "Springs" is a bad word for it. It's actually a creek. Gardner River (cold) and Boiling Creek (refer to name) meet and make the perfect temperature water. We swam there for about an hour and a half, just relaxing in the warm water, then headed back to our camper. We took a rendezvous path back to our camper. We stopped at a hiking trail on our way back. There was a waterfall at the end, and halfway through there was a creek. I dunked my head in it because of a dare. We saw a herd of bison in the distance and one lazy bison sleeping near the road. On our way back to our camper we stopped in a town for dinner. We ate at Three Bears Restaurant. I finally got mashed potatoes! I've been craving them for weeks. We came back to our camper and watched Jaws (a bad idea to do at bed time when you have a mega fear about sharks). This morning we took showers, mom did laundry and dad made pancakes. Yum! Today we're going to find a place to go goof off. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
