After leaving the overflow this morning, we headed down to Banff National Park. We stopped at the Jasper library because it had the best service and wifi in town. Unfortunately, the wifi wasn't working, so it took quite a long time for my post to publish (so sorry!). We stopped at several waterfalls. Some of them were small, more like a water bottle was spilling, and others were big, huge! My favorite part of the day was when my brother and sister dunked their heads under a small waterfall to get twenty dollars as a bet from my dad. We even saw three bears! They were all three black bears. The first one was by itself and seemed pretty big. Then we saw the next two. They were together. And they were HUGE! They crossed the road to a field where they frolicked. No really, they frolicked. After the waterfalls, we stopped at the Columbia Glacier. It's right in the middle of the Icefield Highway connecting Jasper and Banff. We hiked up the hill (the long and steep hill) to see the glacier. It was absolutely ginormous! Then we went across the street to the information center. That's where I got wifi to publish my post. Then we watched a short film, a very artsy film about a boy and his rock. It was very... different. After leaving the information center, we went to Lake Louise. The water was beautiful (and cold), but we weren't allowed to swim. The lake is behind a beautiful fancy resort. We walked around the lake for a while then headed backwards to our car. Next we drove into Banff the town and got a campsite for 2 nights. In the town you could see smoke from wildfires twenty miles away. They are currently contained, just not totally extinguished. Then we went to the Elk and Oarsmen to have dinner. We are currently waiting for our food. Also, today was the half-way point of our vacation. Tomorrow we are planning to do some type of tour. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
