We made it to Cascade Locks, Oregon last night. The campsite was so full that the only site available was a tent site. We took it, but we didn't have electricity. It got cold last night, really cold, but we couldn't turn on our heaters because we didn't have electricity. As soon as we woke up, we took our camper down, hooked it up to our car, then set off for Columbia River Gorge, where we saw several waterfalls. The first waterfall we saw was Horsetail Falls. It was absolutely breathtaking. There was a small pond that the waterfall flowed into. Joshua went wading in it, even though it was freezing. Then we hiked a short trail to Multnomah Falls. It is the highest waterfall in Oregon. Legend goes that there was a terrible sickness in an Indian camp. The sickness threatened their lives. An old medicine man revealed that if a maiden threw herself off of a high cliff the sickness would pass. When the Indian princess saw the sickness etched into her lover's face, she threw herself off of the cliff. As an acceptance of the princesse's death, the Great Spirit made water fall from the spot the princess jumped from. The waterfall is now known as Multnomah Falls. After we drove out of the gorge, we headed to the Oregon Coast, aka the beach. We stopped at Kampers of the West, a campsite, and set up our camper. Then we put on our bathing suits and headed to the beach. There was a shipwreck at the beach, and a multitude of tidal pools. There were sand fleas, sand dollars, tiny fish, and crabs in the tidal pools. We took a walk down the beach and played in the tidal pools at the same time. Then we built sand castles and made them into a town with a moat and a flood zone. We played at the beach for two hours, then we went to the grocery store to get food for dinner. That's where we currently are. Also, I'm sorry the posts are so late, but we're in the Pacific Time Zone. That means we are three hours behind Louisville time. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
