The Niagara Falls of the West

Last night we set up our camper in Jensen, Utah at a campground named Outlaw. It was next to empty, so we got to pick our own spot. We chose an area away from other people, so we didn't hear their noises or see their lights. We woke up at seven a.m. After we de-popped our pop-up, we drove the few minutes it took to go to Dinosaur National Monument. There were so many amazing things there! My favorite building, the Quarry, was magnificent. The paleontologists excavated the bones part way, but left them attached to the wall so we could see them. Then they constructed a building around the wall. The fossils and bones were amazing! After we left the Quarry, we drove through the park for a few minutes. There was this trail called the Swelter Shelter, where there was a rock wall with pictographs and petroglyphs. A pictograph is an image painted onto the wall and a petroglyph is an image chiseled into the wall. Several of the images looked like little aliens and cows. The rangers said they could be up to 1,000 years old. We left the park and headed into Naples, Utah, and ate lunch. Then we went into Salt Lake City, Utah and saw the Mormon temple. The craftsmanship was amazing! It was made entirely out of granite, and it took 40 years to build. Then we drove down to the Great Salt Lake. The view was amazing. Then we got out of the car. The smell was atrocious. There were flies covering the ground like a layer of dust. We didn't stay long. The smell was making us all feel ill. Then we headed off to Shoshone Falls near Twin Falls, Idaho. The waterfalls looked kind of like Niagara Falls. They were beautiful. The sun was setting just as we got there, reflecting off of the Snake River and making it look like gold, not creek water. As of now, we are going to try and get to Boise, Idaho. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
