Oh my goodness. Today was the most beautiful day ever! We got a hotel room in Aurora, CO last night. This morning we drove into Denver and explored downtown Denver. There was an amusement park, a huge coliseum, the Broncos stadium, and beautiful buildings. After exploring Denver, we drove into Estes park. As soon as we passed the "Welcome to Estes" sign, we stopped at a small creek to play in. There was a rope that my sister, Morgan, jumped off of. The creek had a small waterfall right behind the rope. Morgan jumped in, then she tried to grab a rock ledge, but she got sucked into the middle of the creek. The waterfall dunked her and she didn't come up for several seconds. Finally, she grabbed a rock and we hauled her out of the creek. Let's just say she prefers the ocean now. We left the creek after that and went to a KOA campsite in the Rocky Mountain National Park. After we set up our camper, we spent several hours driving through the park. It's so stunning! The mountains were purple with snow capped tops and waterfalls and creeks flowing from the melted snow. We spotted so many animals in the park. We saw a few elk, then about an hour after we started driving through the park, we saw a whole herd of hundreds of elk. We got to feed these cute little chipmunks and squirrels peanuts out of our hands. Their cheeks were so chubby! For a while, we thought we were seeing groundhogs. After stopping to get a drink half way through, we realized they were marmots. They make these little peeping noises and look just like groundhogs, except more red. We saw a big horned sheep. He was gigantic. While looking at the sheep, a coyote showed up. He was so sly, sneaking through the rocks over to a rock ledge. The highest elevation we reached was 12,000 feet high. The air was rather thin, and towards the top it got windy and frigid. After we finished exploring the park, we went back to the campsite. As of now, we only need seventeen more states in the license plate game. Today we praised God for his beautiful creations and thanked him for a safe journey so far. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
