Today we departed at 4:40 a.m. We left Kentucky, drove through Indiana and Illinois, Missouri and Kansas, then finally ended in Colorado. That's a total of 6 states in 16 hours. It has not been the most exciting drive; by a long shot. We've stopped four times today, spending $135 on gas alone. We've watched several movies, due to the fact that we have a DVD player built into our Suburban. I love to read, so I've been reading Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. My brother and sister have played about a million video games; my parents have taken turns driving, napping in between turns. Unfortunately, my dad is bored when he drives, so his way to pass time is by telling the corniest jokes ever. We passed the Saint Louis Arch today. It's the largest monument in the United States, and it's amazing! Through Kansas and Colorado there are huge windmills. There were hundreds of them scattered all over farms. Along with hundreds of windmills, there are thousands of cornfields and cows. Now I know why Kansas farmers can feed 75 people. Just in case you were wondering, Kansas is about the most boring state ever. Go UK not KU. We've had so many snacks today. Thank you, Mo, for the snack box. Once we start to explore the states we'll be stopping at, I'm going to buy postcards and write a sort-of journal on them. Once we get back home, I'll staple them together and make a journal to remember this trip by. Tomorrow we really start our journey. Stay tuned to experience our adventure!
